Beginning of the real adventure!
By lack of experience, I was, at first, in trouble for finding places to camp in the nature and frequently found myself in hotels whose price was not budgeted. On the other side, the pleasure of travelling and gently finding my way of doing things was there. I could enjoy permanent greetings, photo sessions and, here and there, small interviews with motorists very courteous to cyclists. The more I went east, the more people seemed sympathetic. I wondered sometimes what it would get in the following of the trip.
Another nice thing for me, was that my level of Italian improved each day and so I could spend a lot of time talking with people.
A few days before leaving the country, I got the first hesitant invitation to pitch my tent in the garden of a house. Then, the last day, as I fronted the first true pass of my trip, swept by a powerful facing wind between Trieste and Slovenia, I was stopped on the road by a nice retired couple who invited me to drink tea at home and then offered me a delicious meal.
